CLT: a new brand that has been brewing for some time ready for launch
I along with a good portion of America have been listening to and reading reports day in and day out about how this CEO, Politician, Pundit, Company PR spokesperson, Celebrity....(you fill in the person) "lied" about this or deceived about that--- to the point that this behavior seems to be the norm today and not the exception. Read MSNBC Online post about CEOs who got away with millions after tanking their companies. (For example, Richard Fuld, CEO of defunct Lehman Bros. "earned" $106 Million while putting his company into bankruptcy. Hey everyone should do a lousy job and get that kind of payday...huh?)
Ethics seem to have gone completely out the window and I am no longer surprised to hear that whatever we were told first was just an out and out lie...and we are supposed to be OK with that.
It's been going on for years I suspect but with the internet and information access globally 24/7 it appears the lies get uncovered more often and more quickly than ever before.
I think a lot of this has accelerated under the Bush Administration but they are not alone to blame. Greed among corporate America is rampant with poorly performing senior executives getting paid millions while their companies go down the tube. Golden parachutes should be renamed platinum given how rich they seem to be even with the nearly depression like economy we are living in these days.
Thus, I introduce a new brand in the form of an acronym I have been using personally for about two years to describe all of these folks: CLT's.
What are CLT's you ask? CHEATERS LIARS AND THIEVES. It's a not so exclusive club these days with membership growing faster than the price of gas this past year. Now every time someone tells me about another individual that has deceived us I tell them that individual is part of the CLT brand.
It's one brand I wish would go out of business but seems only to be prospering more than ever with no end in sight.
